Mr Rajendra Deshmukh is the Chief Mentor at Nalanda Business Associates. He guides the team on strategies for growth, client management, quality and organizational development.

A manufacturing industry veteran and accomplished leader with over 35 years of experience. He retired as General Manager from Godrej and Boyce Ltd . He is a Mechanical Engineer from COEP, Pune and has attended several programs with IIM Ahmedabad, Royal Peacock, various national and international conferences.

He is an avid reader and a “life long student” as he often quotes.

  • Involved in Establishment and Development of Precision Equipment Division
    • Only division in Godrej producing non-standard, client/consultant designed product. Unique in nature with low volumes.
    • Manufacturing of wide range of critical equipments like trays, pressure vessels, columns, reactors and heat exchangers for refineries, petrochemical, fertilizers, and chemical processing plants.
    • Worked with international consultants like UOP, UDHE, Power Gas, H&G etc.
    • Processing of different metallurgies stainless steel various grades, copper-nickel, titanium and aluminum alloy, low and high alloy steels.
    • Contract management includes-
      • Estimation, preparation of techno commercial offers, negotiation with clients, order booking and payment collections.
      • Settlement of free issue material accounts, penalty waivers and extra claims with clients
      • Logistic of heavy consignments by barge and road movements.
      • Macro order execution planning.
      • Focal point for technical support and clearances from customs, excise, DGTD/JCCI.
      • Development of subcontractors/suppliers in local and international market
      • Support to corporate finance for L/C’s, banking formalities and W.I.P working for the divisions.
    • Manufacturing -
      • Handling different product groups
      • Liaison with companies unions and oppositions
      • Resolving promotion/IR issues for management, staff and worker
  • Infrastructure development for heavy fabrication (63000 sq. ft area) and light fabrication (39000 sq. ft area) at two different locations.
    • I was the focal point for all decision-making and controls
    • The job involved visualization, layouting, logistics, integrating various agencies (civil, electrical, maintenance, production, subcontractors, suppliers)
    • Development of suppliers
    • Freezing of technical/capacity specifications
    • Shifting of existing machineries and Installation, commissioning of new machines/facilities.
      • Two numbers 150 T cranes
      • Laying of six heavy-duty rail sections throughout the length of operating bay.
      • Gas fired Stress relieving furnace of 8 Mt X 8 Mt X 18 Mt with 250 T boogie carriage, guillotine and hinge door arrangement as per Cooper Heat UK specifications
      • Plate yard with goliath crane.
      • Machinery like heavy-duty plate bending machine, column & boom welding machines with rotators.
  • PEPC for Reliance, IOC, Samsung, Technip, TOYO, UHDE
    • In charge of project execution and control process having unique equipment supplies and turn key contracts
    • Developed single window concept for customers.
  • Business Head for Heat Exchanger Business line
    • Contributed 33% of business volume in 2002-03
    • Developed a core group to decide on better value added order booking & execution.
  • Development of aerospace culture and infrastructure to become a separate division.
    • Involved in establishing precision component division focusing on ISRO and Defense orders separately at two locations.
    • Development of AC machine shops with high precision machines.
